“Do you have any idea what mothballs cost these days? Support Pepper Legs and I'll quiet down. Temporarily.”
How It Works
“Sit down, youngster. I’m only going to explain this once, and I’ve already explained it to the cat twice today, so consider yourself lucky.”
Make a curse
You sign up — free, before you ask — and you dream up a little curse. Nothing real, nothing mean. Describe the ridiculous object you’ll plant, describe the curse that befalls whoever holds it, and tell me roughly where you’re hiding it. A nickname. “Bob’s house.” Not an address. I don’t want your addresses, I have enough problems.
Get your QR code
I’ll hand you a QR code. You print it out and tape it onto your ridiculous object. Yes, with tape. What did you expect, magic? It’s a sticker. Premium folk get proper sticker booklets in the post. You are not premium. Move along.
Plant it & photograph it
Sneak the object into your victim’s home in plain sight. The whole game is that they don’t notice. Then upload a wide photograph — wide, youngster, not a zoomed-in blur — showing the object sitting there, innocent as you please. We moderate these. Don’t be clever.
They find it
Eventually they notice this ugly thing with a QR code on it. They scan it. They land here. They read their curse. They feel slightly embarrassed. This is the point.
They pass it on
To be rid of the curse, they pass the object to the next victim — same QR code, the chain grows — or they start a fresh curse of their own with a new code. Either way, the wretched thing travels, and you earn points for how far and through how many hands it goes.
The Rules (I shouldn’t have to spell these out)
- No death curses, no threats, nothing that could be mistaken for one. Use your head. You have one.
- No politics. I’ve heard enough politics to last several lifetimes and I am not hearing them from you.
- Keep it polite. Keep it silly. If you wouldn’t say it to your grandmother, don’t say it to mine.
- We screen every curse. Egregious ones get blocked. Borderline ones get a quiet look from the admins. You may appeal, and the grown-ups will decide.
- Free accounts get five curses a week. Five. That’s already too many, frankly.
About me
“My name is Pepper Legs. My legs are made of peppers — or so the youngsters insist — and I am searching for my long-lost love, who is late, as usual. I would thank you not to get in my way. Now, are you going to plant a curse, or are you going to stand there blinking at me?”
“Curious choice. Not good. Just curious.”
Not feeling creative, youngster?
“Can’t think how to curse your friends? Pathetic. But fine — Pepper Legs has suggestions.”
